- * PTR2 family proton/oligopeptide symporters signatures *
- *********************************************************
-
- A family of eukaryotic and prokaroytic proteins that seem to be mainly
- involved in the intake of small peptides with the concomitant uptake of a
- proton has been recently characterized [1,2,3]. The proteins that belong to
- this family are:
-
- - Yeast peptide transporter PTR2.
- - Rabbit intestine proton-dependent oligopeptide transporter PeptT1.
- - Arabidopsis proton-dependent nitrate/chlorate transporter CHL1.
- - Arabidopsis histidine transporter NTR1.
- - Lactococcus lactis di- and tri-peptide transporter dtpT.
- - Escherichia coli hypothetical protein yhiP.
-
- These integral membrane proteins are predicted to comprise twelve
- transmembrane regions. As signature patterns, we selected two of the best
- conserved regions. The first pattern correspond to a region that include the
- end of the second transmembrane region, a cytoplasmic loop as well as the
- third transmembrane region. The second pattern corresponds to the core of the
- fifth transmembrane region.
-
- -Consensus pattern: G-[GA]-[LIVMFYW](2)-[GA]-D-x-[LIVMFYW](2)-G-x(3)-T-I-x(3)-
- [GSTA]-x-[LIVM]-x(3)-G
- -Sequences known to belong to this class detected by the pattern: ALL.
- -Other sequence(s) detected in SWISS-PROT: NONE.
-
- -Consensus pattern: F-x(2)-F-[LIVMFY](2)-x-I-N-x-G-[SA]-L
- -Sequences known to belong to this class detected by the pattern: ALL.
- -Other sequence(s) detected in SWISS-PROT: NONE.
